do birds like basil?

i checked on my herbs yesterday (just basil, watercress, parsley & chives at the mo) & noticed the basil had had all the leaves clean pulled off & just the stalks were sat in the pot! Some of the leaves were scattered round the pot but hadn't been nibbled. I'm assuming the culprit is a bird?
