I love all my herbs can't pick a fave although sage, thyme and my bronze fennel will definitely be in any list I make.

Just to be picky with my aromatherapist hat on the herb Bergamot is not the flavouring for Earl Grey tea. That would be the oil from the fruits of the Bergamot orange tree (Citrus bergamia) named after the area in Italy from where it originates.

I know someone I did my nurse training with whose asthma was triggered by Bergamot essential oil and she also got headaches.

I use a few leaves chucked in with a tea bag before adding boiling water and it gives a very similar flavour to Earl Grey though!

Sorry snadger, but the bergamot in earl grey tea has nothing to do with the bergamot herb. It is the oil of a relative of the citrus family. There are oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and bergamot. It is the oil of the latter that gives Earl Grey tea its eau de cologne taste.

If I could only have one herb it would be garden mint. Parsley, sage, thyme, rosemary, bay and basil would have to be next. Then for the exotic, banana

                    Favourite herb

Oooh, it's so hard to choose just one, but rosemary, thyme and chives would be in my top 10 list.

To pick just one herb out of so many gorgeous ones is a rotten task!

As much as I love French Tarragon, Lemon Thyme, Basil and Chervil, and Parsley and Sage and Rosemary and......
I am most definitely in love with SWEET MARJORAM this year, which I grew far too much of from seed, but I'm glad that I did now. You can't buy it in the shops for love nor money!!!

Rosemary is my favourite herb and the one I use the most with roasts. Second most useful is the sage that grows near the back door.

Feverfew, well some call it a weed, some call it a herb, i call it an angel of mercy having been a migraine sufferer for 35 years, and it has pretty daisy flowers too.

Parsley-goes well with everything, even with sandwiches
Dill-because of the place I come from it's used not only with fish but mainly potatoes-try some new tatties with butter and dill...Delicious
Chives-love it on the sandwiches, especially egg ones
Rosemary-for all the roasts(not only lamb)-try some sausages in the oven with a few sprigs
Basil-nothing's better than freshly made tomato salad with garlic bread...

Now,I have to go and check the fridge...
