  • Flat or Curly ?

    Parsley !

Has anyone done any clinical trials ?

Euro folk like their flat stuff.. it's more refined ?

I think that it's too easy to confuse taste with texture.

I haven't voted - I'm growing flat because it was a free packet of seeds! I have no objection to the flavour of either, if the free pack had been curly, I'd have grown it!

I don't really like the texture of curly parsley.
I find flat parsley less bitter.
I didn't know flat was "trendy"!!

Flat is less bitter, easier to use and I find, easier to grow.

They will hybridise if you grow both in close proximity. We have both here and I've always eaten the curly as that's what has always been around while I grew up.

I wouldn't know if the taste was different though.
                I love growing tomatoes.

Isn't parsley generally served finely chopped ? Can you really tell a difference in texture ?

Come on folks... finely chop some flat and curly and do a blind tasting.. It may suprize

I grow both. If you'd have asked me at any time in the last five years which I preferred, I would have said flat. That is until last week when I started using curly again and at the moment I think that it's much nicer if it's chopped properly. I agree that the texture is pretty unpleasant otherwise!

I did a few stints in professional kitchens as part of a brief and misguided involvement with a well-known food show, and they always used curly!

Forget the taste, they're too close to call - flat's easlier to wash therefore it gets my vote!
                        Cheers

There wasn't 'Who cares? Life's too short.' option! I saw flat-leafed parsley and picked it up. It grew - not actually used it yet!

I grow flat- not cos it's MORE tasty- but because it's a LESS powerful flavour.

I'd just about manage a parsley sauce I think with the curly stuff!!!
