Taking a cutting

Afternoon,
How do i take a cutting from a herb plant from the garden, and what do i do when i have done this so i end up with a plantlet to pot up?

Also what monthish would i start to prune indoor herb plants and plants in general.

What are you wanting to take a cutting from?

Why would you want to prune indoor plants? Anything in particular? (Herbs get automatically pruned when you eat them )
