  • Dead looking herbs...

    Hi guys,

I'm quite new to herb growing and could do with some herbie advice.

I have some Italian Rosemary (at least that's what I think it is!), Lemon thyme and mint that are all looking like they've seen better days. They look a bit burnt-but not dead.

Will they survive winter? Are they dying? I've moved all the pots to a sheltered position in the garden but I'm still trying to figure out if they'll be living come spring time

I'm hoping they'll live-I have dreams of roast spuds and rosemary and thyme and mint tea

Any advice would be great. Sorry if this has been asked before.

They should all be OK. Rosemary may benefit from a little TLC, the others will grow back like weeds.
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

I agree - my thyme, mint etc oregano are fine again in the Spring, and I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the rosemary!

Spring is called spring because plants literally 'spring' into life.(well if it isn't........it should be!)

I think your herbs have just died down for the winter. Put the pots in a sheltered spot. Cut them back - to ground level if you like. They will all come back in the spring.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Rosemary is very susceptible to wind-burn. Other than that - tough as old boots! If you can provide a wind-break that'd be good. Best of luck.

Aw, thanks guys for all the advice-I've moved all the herb pots to a more sheltered location and will cut them down to ground level in the morning.

If I haven't of seeked the advice I would have emptied the pots out thinking they were all dead.
