  • Dead mint?

Had a pot of mint last summer which i think has died off over the winter, i seem to remember that new shoots would possibly come up as the weather warms, is this right or do i need to replace?

If you manage to kill mint, let me know how you did it.

It will probably come back very very soon. Is there any signs of new life near the soil?

Had just seen your post in the seed swap and offered you some mint seeds, but as zazen has said - yours will more than likely come back.

All my 10 odd varieties of mint look dead atm but in a month or so, they'll all be perking up.

It's only the 3rd week in February, so they're still a bit sleepy and for sure will be getting their hormones in order for the spring.

I don't think there is much chance of it being dead! Give it a hair cut if you haven't already and I am sure you will see life very soon.

As far as I know it is fairly hard (or rather impossible) to kill mint although after I damaged the roots by accident I managed to kill it.

                    Its not dead!

Gave the mint a hair cut as advised and all the weeds covering the bottom is infact new mint coming up!!!!
At least i now know the difference between a weed and baby mint shoots

Hi Archerellie, your mint will still be alive. However pot grown mint use up all the nutrients in the compost in a season so you may want to re-pot for a good crop this season.

                      best regards

My dead-looking mint pot was under snow for 2 weeks but now that has all gone new shoots are sprouting at an alarming rate!

All my pots of mint are just sending out small shoots of new growth. Don't really think that mint is something you can kill. Would ensure that you have plants in pots, not in the garden/allotment as the plants will take over.
