  • Herb Pots

Hi I'm new to the forum and have just planted my very first fruit- some strawberry plants!
Anyhow while I was in B&Q last week I bought a big pot containing herbs. There is parsley, thyme, mint, purple sage, tricolour sage and golden oregano.
My question is - I have been reading on other threads that some herbs such as mint need to be contained as they will spread will this affect the other herbs as they are all growing in the one pot?

You will find that the mint will out compete the others. I'd put the mint in its own pot as that is what you will end up with anyway.

OK thanks! They are still fairly small so I move the mint to a pot on its own before they grow any more. Thanks again

Hi Wannab, how big is the pot? Replant the mint for sure on it's own, in a pot sunk in the ground or on the patio. Leave a rim above the ground if you sink it. Depending on size of the pot I would be tempted to move the sage also, depends how much you want them to grow this year and how much you'll be using them

Still didn't get around to measuring the pot but moved the mint.
Think I will move the other herbs too and just leave parsley and thyme in the pot together.
              Is this OK?

I must be the only one not to be successful with mint, try as i may it either dies or is really feeble and unuseable. Its in its own pot now with the same result
