  • What herbs do you have in your garden?

    At the moment I have:

    Rosemary
    Purple sage
    Curly parsley
Coriander (although it's looking very sorry for itself)
    3 types of oregano/marjoram (can't remember what's what!)
    Fennel
    Thyme
    Tarragon
    4 different types of lavender
    Mint

And I have more seeds to grow of basil, chives and chamomile.

So what do you have and what do you actually use lots of? I find I don't really use much sage or the oregano/marjoram. Although now I have a new herb bed which is nice and easy to get into hopefully I will use it more!

Have just revitalised my herb pots and now have bay, standard mint, pineapple mint, chives, thyme, purple sage, curry plant, perpetual rocket and rosemary in the garden and corriander, basil, dill, flat leaved parsley and chervill started off in pots inside. I tend to use all of the above quite a bit, had a lovely pasta dish last night with thyme and oregano included.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

              I've got:
              Lavender (various types)
              Tarragon
              Fennel
              Dill
              Parsley
              Basil (various types)
              Verbena
              Borage
              Sorrel
              Thyme (various)
              Oregano
              Chamomile
              Mint
              Lemon Balm
              Chives
              Garlic Chives
              Vervain
              Feverfew
              Woodruff
              Sage
              Rosemary
              Coriander
              Curry Plant
              Rocket

I would say I use the mediterranean herbs most along with chives, parsley and mint. I use the borage leaves as an alternative to cucumber and the others as and when.

I have purple sage, golden (?) sage, lavender (various), oregano, rosemary, lemon balm, mint, purple fennel, bay, and thyme. Plus flat-leaved parsley and basil growing on the windowsill. Need to get some more chives, they've disappeared.

Use mostly mint, basil, parsley, chives and rosemary. The oregano is for the bees, they love it. Chucked some borage seeds around last year to no apparent consequence, so will be watching to see if any appear this year.

What herbs do you have or are you going to have?

At the moment I have only 3 big clumps of chives, kindly given to me last year by my friend. The rosemary sadly hasn't survived the winter. After finding out that marjoram is a perennial,I was hoping that something would make appearance in last year's pot.Nothing so far.

I have planted the following ones:
                  mint
                  parsley(curly amd flat leaved,tonnes)
                  dill(tonnes)
                  thyme-2 varieties
                  rosemary
                  lovage

                  Can't remember what else...

I love herbs and have several pots growing inside and out....they are:

                    curly and flat leaved parsley
                    2-3 pots of chives
                    rosemary
                    standard mint
                    lemon thyme
                    standard fennel
                    bronze fennel
                    rosemary
                    dill
                    cumin
                    coriander

                    I think that's it!

We've got a newish herb bed under the front window, where it's warm and quite dry in the summer. It's home to a standard bay, greek 'hot and spicy' oregano, sage, purple sage, golden marjoram, thyme, fennel, lavender. And in the shady corner chives, mint, parsley & lovage

Love herbs, I have chives, garlic chives, chocolate mint, lime mint, ginger mint, apple mint, pineapple mint, spear mint, couple of varieties of thyme, golden marjoram, oregano, bronze fennel, standard fennel, purple sage, variegated sage, dill, lemon balm, coriander, lots of basil - one of my favourites, curry plant, bay, rosemary, lavender and a few more I can't remember at the moment. Lots of others about to be sown I use loads of chives and basil and most of the others, but love herbs as well for the bees they attract

Great variety all! Most of my herbs aren't looking too happy that we dug them up and moved them, sure they'll forgive me though and come back!

I planted nasturtiums today in the back of the bed to grow up a trellis I'm going to have behind it. Also sowed the basil and chives and planted the tarragon and mint (in a pot).

I'm with MrsC -love herbs and grow far more varieties than I use particularly ones that attract insects.

For example; OH loves hoverflies so there is a big clump of Fennel I rarely use and we have a huge swathe of chives that becomes a carpet of bees when the flowers are out. One plant would do us for eating purposes!

I've just added Lady Mantle - because I love the way dew and rain lays on the leaves like little spheres of mercury and Beebalm - it is very striking, you can make an earl gray like tea from the leaves and given it's name it should do exactly what it says on the pot and be nirvana for our fuzzy little pollinating pals

Have loads of Lady's Mantle too! I let certain chives flower and the rest I use, good for the bees as you say
