We make 'tea' with it from time to time to treat colds and flu and for insomnia and indigestion.
I understand it also helps reduce blood pressure and is a mild anti-depressive.
....actually- we've not had any for a white- perhaps it'll help at bedtime"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Sort of 'heavy' rather than 'light/fresh' lemon???..tis quite pongy, but a nice flavour- not bitter at all.Bit like a lemony chamomile ...if you get the gist??
This is where 'scratch n sniff' internet would come in handy!!
Lemon balm is also known as Melissa and it can be bought at health food shops in liquid form- and is fantastic for bubbly tummies/nausea...much cheaper to grow, dry and make tea with your home grown!!!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I always found Lemon Balm tea rather insipid. My father suggested to dry the leaves and put them in DIY self sealing tea bags.
For some reason the lemon balm seems to have a more pungent smell/taste once dried.
With the self sealing tea bags you can then pack the dried leaves in and leave it to fuse longer for a stronger taste.
I now have an endless supply of stunning lemony/chamomile tea!

However, it is said to deter cats, and since my lemon verbena, lemon blam, lavender and curry plants came into heavy leaf, the animal track along the side of my garden has disappeared, and the number of kitty presents has plummetted.
For tea I recommend lemon verbena, two leaves is enough, it has a very strong lemon flavour, not unlike the real thing but without bitterness.
