Saraceniac, have I been missing your posts or have you been away from the Vine for a bit?
Yes. I haven't been around. I have a medical condition that flares up occasionaly and go on a strong pain killer. Just winding them down now which is why I sometimes make stupid mistakes, as opposed to my usual ordinary mistakes.

Just editing to say that that includes missing 'l' from occasionally.

Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Mistake or not, Ive learn't something new so thanks for that. Didn't know that you could use it as a fertilizer. Do you make it the same way as comfrey tea?

        Thanks for all your replies.

I think it goes with Pimms - but then, being completely non-U, I don't know much about Pimms.

Seriously, I bought some (Pimms) in a Tesco sale about two months ago and I don't know how or when to drink it. Perceptive Grapes will have deduced by now that I didn't go to the finishing school in Switzerland, see.

So - how do YOU drink Pimms? I'm a wine person mostly, but I'd love to open the Pimms sometime. Suggestions, please (or more correctly, Instructions, please).

I like it seriously chilled, with lemonade and a few grapes or a cube or two of melon floating in it. And, of course, a borage ice cube or two!

Yup. Just fill a bucket with Borage and put some rain water in. Then let it ferment for a month or two. Doesn't smell as bad as Comfrey either.

You can use lots of things. I've done it with dock too.

I think traditionally it's made with lemonade, ice and all sorts of fruit and/or cucumber. My daughter says it's one of her 5-a-day!

And if you've run out of lemonade it's surprisingly good with Coke too.

I did post a recipe for the real cocktail in the alcoholic drinks section. It's about half the price of buying the commercial stuff but beware, it is also twice as strong.

I wouldn't worry about it falling down, just cut it down, bung it on the compost heap and it will pop up again lickedy split.

I'll try not to fall down but hey, who cares?

                              Hi Herbie,
I agree -- the flowers on Borage are totally amazing. Some grew from a wildflower pack of seeds a few years ago, and I've only just found out what they are called. Sowing them on their own in pots, in the borders, anywhere. I like invasive Never tried Pimms though. . .
