Non- herbs in herb bed?

I have a large herb wheel with 8 sections. This year I grew more herbs than I new what to do with so intend whittling the herbs down to 4 basic ones and maybe dot planting the likes of sage and rosemary around the plot.
I was just wondering what non-herbs I could put in the wheel segments that wouldn't grow too big and not look out of place?

what are the four basic herbs you are considering? If you putting sage and rosemary elsewhere the 4 left are what? Thyme? Parsley? Basil? Oregano or Marjoram? Coriander? Mint? Chervil? Lemon Balm? If you only grow small amounts you can have variety without having a glut.......i can never have enough herbs....

That's one hard decision you've got to make Snadger, there's no way I could just grow 4 herbs, but plants to go with them Mmmmm let me think.....what about cow slips, viola's, sweet violets, calendula, they all have nice flowers to attract the bees into your garden, an all have a culinary or herbal use.

I will still grow Bergamot,chives and mixed mints (apple, pineapple,pepper and spear) along with a Thyme/Oregano bed and I may possibly leave my sage where its at. I will dot plant out of the bed feverfew,rosemary,fennel,dill and lemon balm I think

Like the idea of Calendula's and if my garlic chives survive I'd quite fancy a bed of those for there flowers alone.

That leaves one segment to fill?

I am growing Calaloo,Green Perilla and Red perilla elsewhere, along with three varieties of Collard!

I have Celtuce seeds though, I suppose that could be a possibility?

Snadger if it's any help my herb bed at the front of the lottie has violas, narcissi and lavender as well, mixed in between the herbs. And some shallots. I like the contrasts. Had you thought about the more unusual herbs such as sweet cicely, or summer and winter savoury?

What ever you do dont plant mint unless you want a tea factory

I'd go with cottage pinks. Old fashioned, lovely scent, you can grow them from seed or cuttings, they don't get too big, you can cut them for small bunches to bring indoors.

I grow Perpetual carnations but I love the scent of cottage pinks!
