  • Garlic chives?

I was given a small clump of garlic chives last year and was impressed with how decorative the flowers were. I had hoped to keep splitting up the clumps and fill one section in my herb wheel.
The problem is they don't seem to be reappearing after a particularily bad winter, so I have ordered some seeds. I pressume they are reasonably easy to grow, are they?

Wish you'd said, Snadge - I've bought some seeds already and you could have had some. Don't suppose you could cancel?!

I hope they're easy to grow!

Thanks for the offer basketcase but I need quite a few plants to fill the area I've got planned for them !

Well, mine are back this year so there's hope for you. I spotted them hiding under some celery when I took it out yesterday.

Mine are growing tall now: they're in the flower border near my roses

Where I worked once, I planted a raised bed just outside of the kitchen door for this bachelor bloke: Mint, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Parsley, Marjoram and Garlic Chives.

Every year, we'd be cursing the self-sown Garlic Chive seedlings coming through the patio slabs? How we larfed! but could we get rid of them?!

So do be warned - they can spring up where you don't want them sometimes!

Mine have come up OK, I wondered what they were, as I forgot I'd planted them there last year!
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

I sowed some this year. Just wanted to ask - will they fill out this year and flower, or do I have to leave them for a few years?
