  • Root / Pot bound Thyme plants

I bought 3 different Thyme plants at the local nursery yesterday. All three of them are relatively small (about 10-15cm tall), but extremely bushy and lush. They all look very very healthy.

But unfortunately all three of them are also very very root/pot bound. Should I leave them as they are for the moment...without disturbing them (they're all just starting to flower)....or is it absolutely necessary to repot them as soon as possible??

It won't do them any harm to repot them: water well first, and tease out the roots with your fingers

Do you intend to keep them in pots, or transplant into open ground?

I noticed a huge difference when I planted some out, they'd been kept in pots until there was some space, and looking very sorry for themselves. Soon as they were in the ground, they doubled in size over a couple of weeks, and looking fab now.

As taff said repot them even if they are in flower. I did and mine have gone started growing madly.
