Dying Sage

Hi

Can anybody help me stop killing my sage plants. They grow fine for a couple of months, then they die, the leaves look burnt and shriveled, I wish i had some pics. They are (were) in my allotment herb bed along with thyme, marjoram and rosemary all of which are doing fine. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Dunno - I find sage pretty indestructible.
Is anything eating the roots?

I'd have a look at the roots too- as 2sheds suggests.
Also- is it in a shady spot- it does need a lot of sun to flourish.
Has it had a lot of rain- and then rotted?..ie fungal attack

Mine had some brown shrivelled leaves a few weeks ago and I WONDERED AND PONDERED AND googled...and then wondered some more- staring at it for inspiration- and then it dawned on me-the BBQ had been moved nearer to the border the last time it was used

Thanks for help, i planted the sage plants on my allotment, so full sun, there may well be some nasties in the soil though nothing else has been affected. I'll try planting in large pots, see how it goes.

Mine done that in mid summer. It needed a good watering.

Also- is it in a shady spot- it does need a lot of sun to flourish.

Mine grows right underneath the canopy of next doors fir trees, hardly any sunshine and the bush is over two foot wide.
It does die back I have found, after flowering, but I usually give it a hard prune, then it sulks a bit and comes back with flourish, then dies off over winter....maybe its just dying down for the winter?

Mines never flowered it just keeps getting bigger ..........
