  • Oregano still going strong!

The weather this winter has been bonkers!

I noticed the other day that the Oregano i planted into the border last summer (which is supposed to be tender) is still going great guns - looks the most healthy out of all my herbs! On the other hand, my 'hardy' sage looks decidedly miserable and on its last legs - whats going on??
There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted

How old is your sage Protea? Mine is also looking the worse for wear this year except for the one I planted two years ago. The others are nearly five years old and it is normal for sage to get woody, leggy and tired. You may need to replace it.

I'm a bit further south than most but here everything seems to be acting normally herb wise.

Sorted our my herb boxes and the basics - thyme, last year's new sage, the French tarragon, chives, Welsh onions and mint all seem to be doing really well. Pulled all the dead out, freshened the soil and they're growing away already.

We always buy our basil and the tender herbs from one of the main plant markets, they're such good quality, growing them from seed isn't worth the effort when you only want 6 plants or so of each.
