Well I grow lavender on a clayey soil but it is well drained. It's round my strawberry bed.. as for keeping slugs away? dream on!

I was given a french lavender which I replanted in a pot on the patio next to pots containing antirhinums and dahlias. I had to resort to slug pellets for the latter pots but there is no sign of slug in the lavender pot. So perhaps lavender isn't liked by slugs after all...

Hi Jenny! I've had no luck with my rosemary cuttings in compost, so I'm going to try this method instead as it sounds like it's worked for you!! Enjoy your hols! xx

              Hi Nat,
Well whenever my mam has taken cuttings or rescued house plants that have damaged stems she always put them in a glass of water till the roots came through. Be patient though as it took about 3 to 4 weeks for roots to show on one cutting. It was also the cutting that had the newest stem to it. I know how to get to that point it was the potting on that i was unsure about!

One week to go till my hols, I can't wait as its my first hol away with new fella. Will be a change from his shift work I can tell you!

Good luck with your cuttings, you may have roots by the time I come back!
