  • Lovage Help

What's happening to my lovely lovage?

At first I thought it was being attacked by bugs, but at second glance, the tips of quite a few leaves are beginning to turn yellow.

    Thanks in advance.

I would plant it in the garden, not in a pot. Its a huge plant when it gets going and I think your's is being starved in its pot. Give it its freedom - it'll thank you for it!!

      Phew!
That was my initial thought yesterday, as I know it will get much larger and has grown by leaps and bounds in the few months I have had it.
      Glad it is nothing worse.
One problem...would you know if my chickens will kill it or leave it alone?

          My broom.
They run when I start swinging it like a baseball bat.

I don't remember my chooks eating it but they had lots of other stuff to have a go at anyway. Its quite robust so I wouldn't worry!

I thought the same as veggiechicken - give it some space! The one in my garden is about 80 cm in every direction at the moment.

ok, I'll give it a go and thanks for the advice, Veggie & Eirish.

17 chickens VS one lone lovage plant & a baseball bat broom.
I have been wondering how home grown chickens taste, anyhow.

                  My money's on the lovage.

Seriously, when I say the one in my garden, I'm talking about a garden that's been completely neglected for the last few years, including a winter where there was a meter of snow on the ground for a month. And the lovage is not just alive but massive and thriving.

If you're concerned about your chooks eating it -wrap it round with chicken wire until its bigger - or, lovage stuffed chicken may be an interesting dish!
