  • Chilli's

I have kindly been given 4 chilli plants!
That is all I know. My very first venture into growing something/anything, but would live to actually yield some crop.
So far I am watering them, they have grown a bit bit taller and now they have little white flowers............
What should I expect next, I'm loving it so far!

Where are you flimz. And more importantly where are your chillis! It's very exiting to grow them. I am harvesting the worlds hottest at the moment.........unbelievable.

It's getting a bit late in the year for them to be outside. They will die in a frost.

You can overwinter them indoors to give them an early boost next growing season. But if you are in Spain you might be ok!

Enjoy.......a real chilli grower will be along soon to clarify!

    Loving my allotment!

To be honest it's a tough assignment to start with chillis as your first thing to grow considering the time of year it is now. But dont be put off! Chillis are a hot climate plant so do best during our summers, prefereably under cover in a greenhouse or tunnel. If they are established the foliage will die off soon but the chillis will continue to ripen. If they only have flowers, as said above, you can over-winter them and hope for a nice crop next summer.
If you are interested in growing, try some onions or garlic as now is the right time to get those going.
You say you are loving it so far. Great. This is a perfect time to start reading and researching and preparing for next year. It will be here before you know it
What would you like to grow?

Don't be alarmed if your chilli plants drop all their lives and turn into a bunch of twigs: it's normal for the winter.

some will survive over winter on a light cool windowsill, some won't. It's pot luck really.
