  • Woody Thyme

    Hi Folks

Im a novice at all things gardeny and was looking for advice. I bought a thyme plant last year and made good use out of it. Its now all woody with some new growth coming through the soil. How far back should I trim the woody stalks?

Many thanks and have a Happy New Year!!

Hi Neil and welcome! Don't cut back into the old wood or it won't re-sprout! Looks as if it would benefit from being repotted into something larger - or planted out in the soil. If you can do that, and pin some of the longer shoots down with a bit of bent wire, they may root and you'll have some more plants!

      Thanks Veggiechicken

Can I repot now? Or do I wait until the frosts die down.

Frosts Can you put your location on your profile please so that we have a better idea of your local weather
I assume you don't have a heavy frost at the moment so do it now while the plant is dormant.
