After my experiment with the compost temperature I was in serious need of some bottom heat.

        transplanting outdoors?

I was wondering about whether it would be better to start some chives from seed now for transplanting outside later or if they would grow just as well if planted outside in spring? The same question is in my head at the moment with regards to my greek oregano seed. I'm a bit flummoxed by the old herbs, so any suggestions or tips would be very welcome

I usually start some off in pots in the GH in March or outside in April. I don't think they would get much of a head start if you sowed them now to be honest. Sit on your hands for a while ... Or sow some chillies

thanks scarlet, I'll hold off for a bit. I'm making plans for the spring to avoid digging the third of my plot that still remains to be dug over tbh..
