  • What will you be growing this year?

Just wondering what everybody considers 'must have' herbs. (just in case there is something tasty that Im missing!LOL)
Ive only got half my planted herbs left this year thanks to slug and dog attacks! (so the rosemary, majoram, lavender, mint and chives survived but the thyme and sage need replacing). Also have fennel, lemon balm and oregano doing well in pots.
I wasnt a fan of coriander last year so might not do much of that but I loved the basil and the real revelation was chervil which I hadnt even heard of this time last year but didnt make an omlette or scrambled egg without it in all summer!!

So does anyone have any recommendations for what to sow/buy this summer?

I have bay, rosemary, lavender, chives, thyme, oregano and winter savoury that have overwintered then my fennel and 4 different mints are just starting to grow back.
Soon I'll be sowing coriander, a couple of different basils think there's something else but can't remember what.
    Location....East Midlands.

Rosemary, Thyme (Lemon, Orange, "common"), Sage (Tricolour, Purple, Golden), Bronze Fennel, Hyssop, Myrtle (my favourite evergreen shrub), Oregano, Chives, Black Peppermint (for my Pimms), Chamomile, Lemon Verbena, Aromatic Sages (Pineapple, Tangerine and Blackcurrant), Lavender and some pots of Borage I've grown from seed.

I love the Lemon Verbena, stunning fragrance and makes a nice tea.

As you can probably guess, I really like my herbs! ;o)

Mmmm Lemon verbena To add to Gearoid's list (as I love herbs too) variegated lemon balm (not quite so invasive as ordinary lemon balm and the gold and green leaves show up well in the border) and a whole host of mints - chocolate, pineapple, basil, eau de cologne, apple, variegated etc etc etc.
