Basil

I know supermarket bought herbs are often a bit touch and go, but I got all of mine at different times from Morrisons, and they've been great. I've got more basil than I know what to do with and seem to have been blessed with a instinct for watering it - may well just be that I've got to know the plant well!

I grow quite a lot of different basils. Some of them do have stalks that go black and people tell me it's going to do but for some thats just what happens and the plants carry on and on. Once they start forming flowers you can only pinch them out so many times though. Some basils like Minette (small leaves) have a more bushy habit than others. Sweet Genovese is definitely the standard and very hard to beat though.
