My lemon balm has spots :(

I've just been out to pick some lemon balm for lemon balm & mint cordial, and saw these spots on quite a few leaves. There are plenty without it, and they tend to appear on the lower down leaves, closer to the ground.

My LB bush was transplanted as a raggedy refugee from my parents' garden nearby in June or July. It's produced gorgeous new growth over the summer and is now, apart from these spots, a really healthy-looking and nicely-grown plant.

Does anyone know what it is or what I need to do? Or will winter take care of it?

Mine always looks really awful by this time of year ...I've started cutting it right back as soon as it starts to look straggly and brown and yukky and it just puts out new leaves. Basically you cant kill it its an absolute weed....so cut it back a little so it looks prettier and it will be young and lovely again in spring.

Yes, chop it down and it will grow back again; with a warm autumn you should still get enough growth from some more cropping this year.

It gets it in the shade, which the lower leaves are as the plant grows...

Jardiniere, I managed ot kill one last year trouble is, it was in seed when i chopped most of it down, and now it's growing in the compost.....duuhhh...next time, must remember to cut it earlier....
