Coriander gone to seed?

        The green things are seed capsules, if you open one up you will see seeds inside. Once they are brown and dry they will start to open to let the seeds out.

            For some reason nearly all my herbs have gone to seed this year, I don't have coriander but with my parsley, sage, dill and mint I just cut them off at ground level and they shoot again. So you could plant some more seeds and cut down the existing ones. Then see what happens.

                I grow leaf (rather than seed) varieties. They can be cut lots of times but do keep cutting them. Look out for frilly leaves appearing and cut these off immediately, they are the first signs of bolting. The proper leaves, the ones that look like parsley, will keep on going for quite a while if you keep this up. So basically find an excuse to have a coriander feast once or twice a week!

                  So if you are wanting to dry the seeds for use in food, would you take all the little round pods or would you have to separate the pods from the seeds? I'd assumed the former - so you'd have a jar that looks a bit like peppercorns, or you could grind the whole lot up in a pestle and mortar?

                  Ours went massively to seed, it's rather a fetching plant when in flower except that it's 3 feet tall in a spot sized for a little herb. The seed pods are just starting to turn golden, so I hope to harvest it soon.

                  A question about repeat sowings, when each plant starts to bolt or has been exhausted do you dig it up or leave the old spent plant/roots in the ground?
