Thyme

I bought thyme from the garden center last year and it still alive. I am no good at growing herbs as they seem to die on me.

Was just wondering, is there anything I need to do to it to keep it alive for years? Do I have to cut it back 2wise a year like I do with lavender?

I just cut mine when I want some in the kitchen

Ours is pretty much neglected, just cut right back once or twice a year so it doesn't get too big and leggy. It's in a small space with quite poor soil.

Don't cut too far into old wood or it won't regrow.

One of my favourite herbs, I've had some since last year, it's really easy to propagate as well, just put a stone on one of the branches and it will root where it meets the soil....

Just keep it in the sunniest aspect you can and fairly dry.
