  • Non-stop fresh coriander

Sorry if this is daft question. Is coriander a 'cut and come again' plant? I've eaten the leafy parts with just the stem/stalk remaining, will they grow back? I hate the idea of having to sow seeds for coriander regularly but if that's what I must do to get constant supply of fresh coriander, then I'll do it.

Also I'm a little disappointed the corianders I grew from seed are not the big type (similar to spring onion size) that you sometimes get from store. Has anybody grown the bigger version?

To some extent you can use coriander as a cut and come again plant. This way you will just get fresh green leaves (delicious). Are you growing in pots or open ground? If you cut individual leaves the plant will keep growing, if you cut out the growing tip you may get sideshoots develop (depends how far you've cut it back). Eventually it will bolt and produce seed, so it may be as well to sow further seeds at intervals. As to size, if you leave plants to grow instead of cropping early, then leaf and stem size will increase.

Not really an answer to your question veg, but I also use the stalks when cooking, not just the leaves. They also have a great taste.

        Hi.
Another one to remember is which type are you growing; there are ones that bolt quickly that are better off being used for seeds, and some called leaf coriander that, yes, are better for the leaves.
I have just started the leaf type and getting a much better result, leaving my others to seed and will use that in cooking.
