Mint and parsley didn't grow this year!

I've never had any trouble growing parsley. This is the first year that have had really unsatisfactory results. it's in pots and only grew about two inches.

Planted parsley seed in plants, again very small.

Is this unusual?

Can't comment on parsley, but our mint romped away this year. Ours is in a very large pot

They prefer cooler weather and damp soil, difficult in a pot ( Could you find somewhere in the shade for them?

Yes, parsley does better in deep soil.
But if your mint didn't grow that suggests something else is wrong. Did you water it with pure bleach? Mint grows anywhere.
