How can you "bottom feed" a plant?

You stand the pot in liquid feed and let it draw it up.

Herbs should be treated the same as any other potted plant. I've seen it recommended that ideally you would water from the bottom and feed from the top. But really I expect it makes two thirds of b*gger all difference. You don't need to faff about, just water them when they dry out and feed them when they are hungry.

Aahh! Plants in pots!
All my outdoor pots are too big and heavy to move. Watering/feeding (not that I do) is only feasible from the top downwards.
