  • Buckler leaved sorrel - no longer in fashion ?

I used to see this plant in herb sections of several garden centres, but not any more. Just out of curiosity, does anyone see it for sale now?

Its a really nice sharp lemoney salad leaf.

    Hi and welcome.
Its easy enough to grow from seed so I've never looked for plants.

I have common Sorrel (Rumex acetosa) and Sorrel Profusion (a non-flowering variety of Rumex acetosa) along with Oca (which has the same citrus lemon flavour to the leaves and is related to Wood Sorrel - Oxalis acetosella). I thought I had red veined sorrel but I seemed to be mistaken - probably haven't sown the seeds.

Common Sorrel is easy to grow from seed - next year it'll probably bee popping up all over the place. Buckler should be just as easy. Both are perennials and related to the docks - and we all know how hard it is to get them to grow

I hadn't heard of it before. Just discovered it's also known as French sorrel and its Latin name is Rumex scutatus. Chiltern Seeds and Seedaholic have seeds for sale.
