  • Mutant Oregano Seedlings

I sowed a multi cell tray of herbs 2 rows each of 4 herbs.
    One I thought was Oregano.
The others have not appeared yet but the Oregano burst out the compost after a couple of days and is now about 2 inch high.
They don't look like what Oregano seedlings look like on the web.
They seem familiar somehow but I can't place them.
I shall try and get a picture

    Slightly worried, Jimmy

As I recall they were black seeds, not round, smaller than a pea seed but larger than radish seeds.
    Pic attached of mutants.
    Any ideas??

Oregano seeds are very small. They don't look like oregano.
      What else did you sow?

Definitely not oregano - they look familiar, but my memory is failing to come up with a name at the moment. If you bought them as oregano, you'd be entitled to a refund.

They're familiar to me too - a flower maybe. (Sorry Jimmy, I know how much that word upsets you!)

Yes I grew some Morning Glory a while ago , I remember what they looked like.
No idea why the came from a packet marked Oregano.
They were a sub packet from a pound collection of herb.
Fortunately I have just emptied a compost bin and as flowers that's where they are going.
                Thanks for the assistance.

Was the compost new or recycled? Just wondering whether the oregano is still there, waiting to germinate.

It was a bag of bought compost. ( Nasty word bought )
Also I half recall the seeds were large black thing as described above.

                      Suitably snipped and disposed of.
I think I have a disk of Oregano I will sow that.
It was a weird pack of various herbs, they came impregnated into disks. It looks about the size of a tea bag but just one layer.
Already used the thyme so will see how Oregano goes.
