Rosemary & Mint

I have a young (planted out 2 years ago) Rosemary plant growing in among some strawberry & orange mint.

They've been perfectly happy until this summer. The Rosemary which has always been lush & dark green flowered then as the flowers died it looked like the plant was dying. It's not, it's still going & has some new growth on younger stems but it looks half dead.

I know mint can be invasive, could this be causing the issue or is it just a cycle Rosemary goes through. The other e bushes I planted out elsewhere are very happy indeed.

Is it a prostrate rosemary (the sort that trails) or an upright one?

I saw your photo. If doesn't look very upright - that's why I asked whether it was meant to be sprawling!

It was upright when it was healthy it's only gone like that since it's become bare

It shouldn't just flop unless its been uprooted.
Even a dead rosemary that's lost all its leaves stays upright.

You could be on to someting actually.

We cleared some of the mint from around the root to let it 'breathe' I wonder of we've inadvertently damaged the roots? If so how likely is it to recover?

Depends on how many roots are left! I'd dig it up and have a look. See if there's enough to replant and put it somewhere else - or in a pot until it recovers.

If you have damaged the roots you might want to also cut back the branches so that the remaining roots don't have to work as hard to support a canopy too bit for them.
