    Like the title says really.

Does anyone have some everlasting onions I can pinch please? I am after Allium cepa perutile (yes the ones I have sent out in the past - sadly I have lost all mine )

I have Welsh Onion but I think they are a different Latin name...?

thank you. Unfortunately some people do call welsh onions everlasting onions but I am after the real ones. My welsh onions are still thriving despite long term neglect. Mind you my everlasting onions spanned a decade (until this last year)

Thank you again for the offer

Sorry NG. Don't think I had any of those from you - but if I did, I don't have them now.

Oops, you did send me some in 2016 https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ons_83080.html

Can you tell by their appearance whether they're Everlasting or Welsh onions? I would have planted them in one of the allium beds, both of which have Welsh onions in and I'm not sure what's what!

welsh onions are a lot bigger ( approx 30cm +) and tend to have hollow leaves
everlasting onions are around 15-20cms, more compacted clump growth and more solid.

I would like to think I would know if I saw them.

I just prefer everlasting as a spring onion and find it stands better in cooler months than welsh onion.

Out of interest, do Welsh Onions die right back in winter (mine, planted last year, have disappeared) - or maybe died?

Could it be these? Or is it a garlic head gone bonkers?

Certainly seem a good candidate (tight clump, no bulb, solid looking, red tinge), although they really like your garden they look ever so tall.

Next question. Can I pinch one or two please? pretty please?

The one on the water butt is 16" tall. Tastes a bit garlicky.
I'll send you some with your Random Seeds - hopefully this week.
Hope they are what you want. If not you can grow them anyway!!
Definitely not Welsh Onion (hollow stems). Not leek (there's one alongside the clump).
Just not sure about garlic. Never seen them flower.
