  • Chile seeds for swap!

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this forum and still did not find a "hello I'm new" thread so I introduce me right here and now!

I live in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and grow mostly anything that can be grown in pots... yes, I do grow indoors mostly with a combination of sodium and fluorescent lamps.

I have a variety of seeds to offer... and want, well... anything that can be grown in pots as I said before. Not only chiles!
Here it goes! Seeds I have, all of them are peppers:

    Hot Cherry
Andino Dulce (very sweet, zero heat, thick flesh)
Poblano (quite hot, fruity flavor, thick flesh)
    Ancho Poblano
    Campanita
    Jalapeño
    Scotch Bonnet
    Hungarian Hot Wax
    Pasilla del Bajio

I also have some Platense tomatoes if anyone wants them! Quite big yield, good flavor, and medium size...

Hello and welcome to the Vine hectors. I suspect your growing conditions are a bit different to ours in the UK!!

      Thanks!!

Yes, my conditions are most certainly different, Buenos Aires is a sub tropical weather zone... quite humid, and the temps range from 0ºC (winter) to 40ºC (summer). But as I grow mostly indoors, those conditions have zero importance for me

I think I have some heritage tomato seeds if you would like to try them. Brandywine and Sophie's choice. I also have jalapeno peppers and bolivian rainbow. Let me know if you are interested.

Hi. Im not sure if there are any government restrictions with sending seeds outside of the EU. It may be wise to look it up first?

This is what it says on the DEFRA website, its the reason I mentioned it earlier, however, it may not apply to you, I dont know?....

To guard against the spread of harmful pests and diseases, the EC Plant Health Directive sets out controls on the import, movement and keeping of plants, plant pests and other plant material. This EC legislation is implemented by the Plant Health (England) Order 2005.

Some plants and plant produce are prohibited from entering this country. Others are restricted and must be accompanied by a phytosanitary ("plant health") certificate, which is issued by the Plant Health Authority in the exporting country. This certificate is essentially a statement that the plants, or plant produce, to which it relates have been officially inspected in the country of origin (or country of despatch), comply with statutory requirements for entry into the EC, are free from quarantine pests and diseases, and are substantially free from other organisms. Plant and plant material imported from non-EC countries under Phytosanitary Certificates are inspected by the Plant Health and Seeds Inspectorate on, or shortly after, arrival in this country, in order to confirm that they satisfy our plant health requirements. There have been a number of changes made to the way we carry out import inspections and these can be viewed at the: EC import regime section.

Wow, look at that! We have plant and plant produce restrictions, but only with certain countries, such as Uruguay and Brazil.
Fortunately, all of my seeds are treated so that would not pose any problem if implemented!

I guess the big answer here is that no one ever realizes there are seeds in the envelopes... i mean, we are swapping a few, not a ton, and I hope no one in this forum has reasons to have their letters open by authorities :P
