  • Home saved Tomatillo seed

    Hi there
I have some home saved Tomatillo seed available if anyone wants to give them a go. Original plants were grown from Real Seeds catalogue, "Mixed Purple and Green Tomatillo". PM me if interested.

    Hi Muckdiva,

could you tell me the difference between these and normal tomatos please? Can they be eaten raw?

    cheers

Well, you could, but I found them a bit controversial just sliced raw. They are fabulous in a salsa though, and I think other grapes have said they are lovely grilled and so on. Give them a go...see what you think!

Is this the same plant as Tree Tomato?

Nope - not the same as tree tomato [Tamarillo I think these are].

These grow little tomato-type fruits in little paper bags; a bit like the cape gooseberry. they go mental about august sept time and you get loads of the little blighters; you need to grow 2 together for them to pollenate properly tho.

I put them in chillis and dips and pasta sauces etc before they are ripe, and salsas when they are ripe.
