  • Seed Potatoes

    Hello,

This year I was going to branch out in my veggie patch and I have some nice chitting potatoes on the windows of my house.

Unfortunately my landlord is selling my flat so I'm having to move and I'm losing garden size, I can take most things but not all off my potatoes.

Does anyone one know of any allotments groups or that type of thing that could find a home for my excess seed potatoes. In the Huddersfield area.

    Many thanks
    Kath

Could you not grow them in containers rather than in the ground?

Oh, welcome to the vine too
    Happy Gardening,

Thanks for the welcome I've been reading for a while now for tips!

I will be growing some in containers, but I have 4 different varieties and about 20 of each so that is many containers or sacks or everything else

there's a school near me that is growing their own "allotment" that will take them from you, but its not in the huddersfield area - its in the Greater Manchester area. Any good?

        thanks

          Hi,
Kath I live in Wyke as the name suggests i could take some of them off your hands if that would help as at the minute I am in the middle of reorganising my garden so have limited space until later in season when it is all done

HI Kath, welcome to the 'Vine
I just wondered, Have you tried offering them to your local primary school? Quite a few are setting up veg patches now, and even if they haven't they might like to try growing them in pots as a project. It would give them enough time to harvest before the summer hols if they planted them after Easter.
Sorry about you having to move, it's awful when landlord's decide to sell when you're nicely settled. I hope your next place is nice
