The following people have their seed fruits winging their way to various abodes far and wide....

Kiebee, Flummery, Kernowyon, Swaine, Lizzy and Nemo. Expect in the next day or so!

I am still waiting for adresses from the following....

Growem, Lynda66, Queen of the cobs, and Loveday69

Don't worry if you've gone on holiday - the fruits are busy drying out in the sun lounge so will keep nicely.

Mine are here too. Can we start a new topic somewhere about looking after and planting them? Or has one already been started? I know I'm going to need a bit of handholding for this.

I put a link on post #8 on this thread, which gives a bit of info, or perhaps we could set up a group on the new & improved profile page

I saw that pigletwillie did a banana shallot seed trial 2006-7-ish. Too late for me to participate - sadly.

Perhaps there is a good case to ask for a new cateogory of 'Special Projects' to include things like this and the shallot trial etc, where we can all contribute our findings and perhaps after the trial, the collection of comments might qualify to be moved to 'Growing Techniques' if they prove to be of good enough reference quality?

I think to count, that we should all either co-ordinate our plantings - perhaps an early test followed by one a month later - or perhaps at 2-weekly intervals?. Obviously our general locations, whether grown indoors/outdoors from the off, in ground or containers, perceived soil quality, additional feeds/fertilisers/improvers and also any unusual weather factors would help things along. We could also then place approximate yields when we come to harvest time. OMG - I'm getting a little ahead of myself here - they may all be duds - and I'll have to skip planet Earth and return to Ferenginar to escape the humiliation!

Whether this is going to make anyone change from seed tubers to seeds is another story altogether - but I have read some very good arguments as to why farmers in certain parts of the world would benefit from using seed - not least the cost of transporting tubers v seeds. There is also evidently some blight and other disease protection if grown via a TPS. I don't fully understand all these things yet - but I'm willing to learn.

The only person I'm aware of who has successfully grown from seed on here is Duronal and I hope that He/She will offer advice and guidance once the project begins next year. That could be sooner if seed extraction has to be done in a special way after ripening the fruit.

Last packet sent out today to QOTC!

OK - after all my obligations have been met and my greedy eye has been cast over whats left I can offer

JUST 5 MORE PAIRS OF FRUITS to the first applicants

If you've thought about it and been undecided this is - I assure you - the very last chance this year for 'my' last remaining seeds.

There is no risk to you - and only 'if' you have something of interest will I ask you to 'give back' now - or later on!

Com'on lets spread the seed....it will be huge fun next year to compare results!

Duronal - a 'special reserve' pair of fruits on their way to you!

Nemo + QOTC - have yours not arrived yet? Both sent last week.

Hi Quark1, any fruits left perchance? Most interested to give this a go after reading Duronal's thread.

What sort of 'interesting' things are you after?

OK Shirl - you get in on the last 5 reserve releases!

4 to go folks or I'll get greedy!

Just PM me with address details and perhaps what you have on offer - not essential - but forgive me if I spot something next year and remind you!

These last few pairings 'may' be from the same plant - but will still be loaded with seed.

I certainly think Duronal will take the lead on giving advice as he has proven experience - bring on 2009 - I say!
