Hi Rockhag

In the warmer weather I have loads of red worms in my compost bin - because I keep chickens! The manure that I put in there seems to generate red wire worms. Since using chicken manure compost I have so many worms in my garden that the gravel path is full of worm casts and the stones keep building up into little piles!!

Try finding someone local who keeps chooks - freecycle wanted ad might be a good place to start if you don't know anyone!

i roped next doors kids into turning my compost heap over today, there were millions of them..... there definitely werent that many when i moved the heap a few months ago
