  • Seed swapping in France

I've already posted something similar in one of the living in France fora but for anybody who doesn't belong to LF, I'm wondering whether we couldn't do something France specific or even European mainland.

It's ok swapping with our chums and chumlettes in the Uk but the SAE and exchange rate thing makes it increasingly difficult.

    Any thoughts folks?

No reason why it shouldnt work Tony.
I have sent and received plenty of seeds to/from the UK but the big problem I have is remembering to bring stamps back home with me after my rare sojourns to the UK. Thus an SAE isnt possible, which is a pain as there is stuff being offered now that I really want.
Is there anything in particular you're searching for currently? I will probably have it.

I'm happy to swap over here Tony-

A few kind Grapes have posted to me without asking for an sae- or I've sent stuff back in return.

-not been on the LF for a while!

Dont get me wrong Nicos, I have been lucky enough to receive lots of things from kind people without an SAE, but I never like to just ask and say "can I have please?"

I'm game to swap seeds. I don't always offer on the seed swap here because of the postage thing especially now the exchange rate is the way it is. I have seeds that I can swap so, just let me know what you want and I'll have a look.

Whilst I'm on here, I haven't forgotten you Nicos, it's just that we have had a few "issues" here and I have run out of time.

Well, for those who know him, DragonRouge (aka Ken) and I have just done the first swap, organic spuds from him, organic heritage beans from me.

So, anybody got any swap lists?

I'm just about to order a load of organic Chinese/Japanese organic seeds from the UK, in bulk and happy to swap some of them when they arrive.

Just got back fropm a long weekend in Bordeaux - hospital stuff so made the best of it - and have come home to a bundle os seeds sent to me by a contact from anbother Forum about France. I'm truly overwhealmed by the guy's generosity!

Jardiniere, we need to get something going on here too I think.

Btw, heard back from the Seedy Sunday guys in the UK and they know of nothing similar in France - got to be an idea there

Willing to be a seed swopper too, just need time to sort the 'sow by' last year's or year before's date!

Mind you, I ignore 'eat by' dates as well!!

I always think that the use by dates are sort of, maybe, could be used as a rough guide line sort of date.

As has been said in here so many times, if the seeds have been stored properly, that's what really matters.

I'll start sorting though my seeds too, see what spares I have - but just how many freebie packets of Gardeners Delight or Moneymaker, Parsley etc can any one gardener cope with, especially when there are sooooooo many interesting other types of toms around?

And even better when swappers sent you 12 types of chilli/pepper, two tomato varieties I've never heard of etc etc.

Sometimes this gardening lark is great fun.

So, posting of swap lists seems to be the next thing folks.

Probably not the correct thread for posting this, but SuperU are selling 40cm frost resistant terracotta patio pots for 4.95 euro! A bargain or what!
