Sorry to hear about your veg growing. Is it worth holding on to some of your seeds as many you have listed will be good for a couple of years, particularly if stored somewhere cool and dry?

          I've pm'd you too.

You could always get a window box or a trough to grow a few of them?

A lot of what you have could be grown on pots, perhaps you could go down that route (less effort / hassle than beds). It would be a shame to get rid of everything when you obviously had such good plans, don't want you to give everything away & regret it later.

I know you said your budget was shot, but you don't need to buy containers, look around for anything that can be recycled and join freecycle too, people often give pots away when they have a tidy up. Lettuce can be grown as individual plants using cut off 2l drinks bottles, and would be good for a few of the red and green cut and come again sorts. You might need to buy some compost, but do try to grow something, it would be such a shame to let your enthusiasm be swamped by others.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Herby, I have a bunch of salvaged aluminium pots that are about 2ft high. They are deep eough to grow carrots and salads in but I was planning on getting rid of some as I have too many for my garden. If your part of Suffolk is close to mine, you can have some. PM me if interested. They are in pretty good nick, got them on a skip dive, but they are not damaged.

                      What a waste

I agree with the others - you already spent all the serious money (seeds & plants)- might as well go through with it now. You can find loads of pots and other containers on freecycle/neighbours (many people are throwing out pots now from new plants they bought) and you can even buy cheap compost from your council (ours £3/bag).

That said if you decide not too I'll be happy to take any vegetable seeds you have left as I'm in the process of starting up mine (and I'm on a VERY limited budget myself).

With regards to free pots; I went to my local Wyevale last weekend, and in the car park they had bins of pots to give away as part of their recycling scheme. They came in all shapes and sizes. May be worth a go?

Right, I am really sorry to say this but I will now be going a head with things as I have got a helping hand with things now. Instead of a skip I am going to borrow a van and shove all the rubbish in and take it down the dump. I'll also be getting some large sand bags to fill up with the soil I do not need (loads of stoney stuff). I have also managed to make a small compost area behind the shed for other garden waste.

Sorry to waste your time and thanks for the advice.

I'm a bit dense today, but I really hope you mean that you are going ahead with your gardening plans, and not giving up after all?
