I just hope the RM don't get sniffy about the wee bulge being wider than their width/girth ( whatever) rule. They actually had a size slot thing you were supposed to slot your letter in to check! Outrageous! IMHO. They were all in standard size envelopes and weighed virtually nothing.
If burly Royal Mail police turn up on your doorsteps threatening vast fines for being in receipt of portly pink wrapped Squash seeds I'm ever so sorry.

Received seeds today, thanks very much.
Never grown squash, or much else before, when do I plant then and do they go straight outside of start off indoors?
Sorry to be a pain.
Keep well watered or they get stressed. Also they're greedy feeders, like a sunny position and get huge!
Later be ready to rig up something for them to climb up too.

Thanks Pickledtink! One packet of girly pink arrived without so much as a squeak from the postie! Looking forward to planting them up. Must confess when they arrived I sat and looked at them and wondered what I had asked who to send! Definitly (sp?) a senior moment!

Thanks pickledtink. I too had to think a moment but when I saw what they were I realised who they were from. Just have to hide the girly pink wrapper from Miss E now until I have a secure home for them.Bright Blessings

My seeds arrived yesterday, I'm looking forward to planting them! This might be a stupid question but I don't know the answer - does each individual plant produce different fruits or does each seed produce a plant with the same fruits, and the plants are all different? Sorry to be such a thicko!

I used to have an Organic veg shop. The bloke I got our Squash from had fields with all different squash. When the bees pollinate the fruit runs true for one season but after that it's anybodys guess.
So it's a complete lucky dip. You could get 6 Butternut and 1 Crown Prince plant or 3 Turks Turban 1 Gem and 2 Harlequin or absolutely anything else across the Squash spectrum as they've come from fields with about 20 different varieties.
He saved his seed and so do I. The 'parentage' is vast though.
It's great fun but a bit difficult to work out if you've got Bush, Climbers or trailers. I wait till I can see if they want to climb or not then bung in a frame or wigwam for them. Or just let them make their own way to the nearest tree or whatever.

seeds to swap
hi, I am working in a secondary school and have started up a gardening club I would love any winter squash seeds. We have some interesting seeds like purple tiger pepper and cypress vine and bolotto beans so could do a swap. We also require a water butt and composter if anybody in the Norfolk area can help?
Thanks Claire
