I love pickled gherkins and would love to grow some to do my own.

Question is, where do I get the seeds from and when is the best time to sow them?

IVE BEEN GROWING GERKINS FOR ABOUT 3YEARS NOW AND IVE ALWAYS GOT MY SEEDS FROM THOMPSON AND MORGONS BUT OTHER FIRMS DO THEM AS WELL! now IS THE TIME TO SOW THEM IN A PROPERGATOR OR IF YOUVE GOT ANY CUCMBER SEEDS JUST PICK THEM SMALL BUT NOW IS THE BEST TIME!! I HOPE SO AS I JUST SOWED 5 SEEDS YESTERDAY AN IMIGHT BE ABIT LATE !

Hi Sternyboy,

I bought gherkin seeds from Lidl for 39p last year. Didn't get round to sowing them last year but did sow them about a month ago.

Every single one of the 12 germinated so I've been giving some away! As they are quite vigorous you may get a crop if you can sow them very soon..

Slugs destroyed all 5 cucumber plants

I'llpop in Lidl tomorrow then n see if I can pick some up

also got some from lidl all have germinated unfortunately the instruction are not in english i'm not sure how tall ect they grow do i treat them like cues?can they go outside or must they stay in the greenhouse.
