ok, i've been reading these threads since the 1st one was introduced and have ummed and rrrrr'ed, and am now going to go for it.......

    count me in please.

    i'm going to grow
canadian wonder beans (red kidney beans)
    Amish Paste Tomato.

i'm choosing these because i grew and harvested seed from both this year, so all i need to do for next yr is grow more!!!.( and if all else fails....i've got the seeds from this year!!).

    is that ok with people?

Slovakian seeds sound really interesting - the chance to get hold of something not normally available in this country.
My Grapevine secret santa sent me some open pollinated varities so I have
      Chilli Jalapeno Telica
      Tomato Golden Plum
      Tomato Belarus Orange
      Carruthers Puprple podded peas (HSL)
      Gladstone pea (HSL)
      Borlotti beans
      Yin Yang beans (HSL)
      Bridgewater fench bean (HSL)
      Brightstone dwarf french bean (HSL)
If anyone sees anything above they fancy let me know and I'll choose that as one of my two varieties to grow.
Where are you based in the country Planetologist?
Vicky, can i put in a vote for the Carruthers PP Pea.....i dont belong to the HSL....yet!!.

Hi Planetologist, please add me to your list of interested saver/sharers.

I've been an allotment holder for many years now but it is only in the last four/five years that I have discovered the joys of seed saving open polinated varieties and trying to develop strains of veg suited to my local environment.

Compared to the previous thread I have only tried with a limited range :

        Leek Carantan
        Leek Blue du solaisse
        Dwarf bean borlotto
        Broad bean crimson flowerd
        Pea purple podded
        Tomato black krim

However I am keen to try other varieties if ther is something specific you would like me to try.

Being situated up on the north-east coast it can get a bit cold for some of the less hardy varieties of veg.

        best regards

        Burnzie

I cant tell you what seed I will be able to save next year (or maybe this year bepending when you read the post )yet, as it will be my first proper year of growing my own veg and I really dont know what will be successful or not.

Some things I am going to try and grow are quite simple bog standard stuff: for example carrots, onions and spuds. Standard broad beans, runners and french beans. I have some other seeds such as beetroot/parsnips which is biannual anyway. Plus some unsual herbs and salsify and a selection of squashes and toms for the lean-to.
So hoping as these are not as fancy/exotic as some of the above, they will still be ok for me to offer in the circle?

To summarise the posts so far:

                2. northepaul
                3. wollyanna
                4. winstonwobble
                cayenne peppers
                runner beans enorma
                5. kernowyon, I hope
                6. vicky
                Carruthers Purple podded peas (HSL)?
                7. kiwirach
canadian wonder beans (red kidney beans)
                Amish Paste Tomato
                8. Burnzie

                16. planetologist
                radish cherry bell
                squash summer crookneck

Burnzie, I would favour one of the leeks and the broad beans, as we don't have those yet.
northepaul, I'm not worried about fancy, as my first objective is reducing food miles, though I in no way want to suggest that biodiversity is unimportant.

Hi Planetologist, Leek blue du solaise and Crimson broad bean it is then.

I could also add a couple more to the list if required.

after search through the tins in the shed, i have currently for this year

                      yin yang beans

plus i also have either a yellow cayene or a pointy sweet green pepper, but i will hold on to making a decision on the second variety till feb when I will see what i can get to grow out from my travels

ps, can i put a vote in for Vicky's Golden Plum Toms

I've signed up to be a seed guardian for the HSL this year too, now that I've got a full allotment. I wonder what I'll get to choose from?

If there's room left.... I have already got Blue Hubbard, Yellow Scallop and Sweet Dumpling Squashes (please, no rude comments!!), plus Masterpiece Green Longpod BB's and I'm hoping to have Red Rum runner bean from a friend on freecycle in a few days...

                                Hi Torreya, and welcome.

Do you fancy trying to save from the blue hubbard ?

Quite challenging but should give a good yield.
