Prairie Fire Chilli OFFERED

I grew a few Prairie Fire Chilli's from some T&M seed last year.



The plants are really pretty and if you look after them you will be rewarded with hundreds of extremely hot chilli's. I have been saving the seed from mine and can spare plenty of seed in batches of 15.

These are quite compact and make nice houseplants - and if (unlike me) you look after yours after cropping they do over winter (the one I gave to my sister is looking great).

I am not really after anything in return (unless you have interesting HOT or ODD things to swap), though you will need to send me an SAE if you don't!

Don't want any seeds as I already have a few but I can confirm that they are a lovely plant and that mine is looking pretty good on the utility room window ledge at the moment.

Hi, are the plants very big? I know they vary in size quite a bit. I have acouple of chillis that sit on the windowsill looking pretty

These are very compact - make nice windowsill dwellers. You get loads of fruit on them though (each quite small, but very hot), I use 2 or 3 in a curry or chilli and they give a nice heat.

Hi Mrdinkle, no seeds thankyou but maybe some advice. I've got a couple of prairie fire's still growing, but didn't exactly get lots of chillis from them. They flowered heaps, but maybe only produced about 10 actual chillis (which were great though). I watered when dry and fed with tomato food about once a fortnight. Did you do anything different? Thanks

Just wondered if you had pollination problems Mac? Were they just on your windowsill? I hand pollinated all my windowsill grown chillies with a small paint brush. Took a while each day, but was worth it, and by making sure I only did one variety per brush, the seeds should be true to type too.

I didn't do anything special really.

I gave them a little shake every couple of days and removed the flower petals when they started to wither (basically to keep them looking nice and to prevent any rot). I also began harvesting them as soon as I could. I fed them on a mix of feeds - standard tom feed and organic seaweed liquid, once the plants were established I only used water from the butt.

I had meant to treat them to some bat guano, but they never got any!

Wilko's do Organic Seaweed a lot cheaper than other places.
