WANTED - Comfrey Blocking 14

Looking for some Blocking 14 Comfrey, so I can grow to produce some nice Nitrogen rich Comfrey Tea for my plants. Would prefer plant instead of seed, so I can use this year

Can anyone help out?

Mbronco - you will need to get some root cuttings from a generous grape. If you grew it from seed it would not be Bocking 14 which is sterile. My lottie site is covered with what had been claimed to be Bocking 14 - but has sown itself everywhere. So I don't think you want any of that one!

Even if you grow it from root cuttings, you're supposed to let it grow for the first year, and not start cutting it until the second.

I know, and that sucks, I should have started it last year, as I want to be able to use to product some organic fertiliser for my plants, heard on gardeners world that its great on tommys.

If I grew it in a pot, but put the pot in the ground, would that stop it being invasive?

bocking 14 isn't invasive, that's the whole point of it

Suffolk Herbs sell the root cuttings, very reasonable price. 5 bits for about a fiver I think. If you get them now you will get some leaves this year but not a huge amount. In the mean time try getting hold of some nettles as they also make a good plant food.

I visited Ryton Organic Gardens near Rugby last year and noticed that they were selling large 2lt plants in the shop. You could give them a call and see if they have any. It's a nice drive down from Staffordshire.
