Celery 'Loretta' Seeds

Hello

Another impulse purchase today in B&Q means that I now have an unopened packet of Celery 'Loretta' Seeds (cant help thinking of Monty Python!).

(I had bought them hoping I could use them for container growing but a quick search has shown that its probably not going to be successful, so I dont think I will try).

I dont need much in exchange at the moment, although I am looking for some dwarf sunflowers ('Dwarf Yellow Spray' or similar) but otherwise you can have them for an SAE.

You can grow celery in a pot in a tray, as cut and come again; and keep the tray full of water to keep the celery from going stringy.

Oh ok thank you - how big a pot would I need? And how big do I let it get before I harvest it? It almost sounds as if you mean like miniature for salads?

No, not miniature. The bigger the pot the bigger the crop. If you have a look on my blog, about 3 posts down there is a pic of the cut and come again celery mid-winter. It looks a bit yellow but that's the white balance - if you have 4 big pots and just cut one at a time as you want it; then you should have some weekly as it grows back. If you need more, then grow more - less grow less.

If you imagine a pot that would hold some celery the size of the bundles that you get in shops, that's the size pot you need for one plant, or 4 of cut and come again.

It's the keeping it in water all year round that's the trick to stop it from drying out and getting stringy.
