Are they perennials?

They'll be annuals Chris - perennials propagate by root division....

But once you have annuals they will self seed so in effect they should come back each year.

Oh right, I wasn't aware self-seeding and perennials were different That's what I was after anyway, thanks [idea is to create a part of the garden that just self seeds that I can dot the odd marigold or what not inbetween]
