The blurb:
Over the past century we have lost 97% of our vegetable varieties in the UK alone. A handful of corporations now control a quarter of the world's entire seed market - the very same corporations that are pushing their GM 'products' into our homes and on to our tables.
Southampton Seed Swap was inspired by 'Seedy Sunday' in Brighton and gives local people the chance to swap their surplus seed and try something different in the com...ing season.
Visitors are urged to bring surplus seeds, in clearly marked bags if possible (though we will have some for you to use) to swap. If you do not have any seeds to swap, do not despair as there will be the option to take seeds for a small donation!
On Friday 11th from 7.30pm there will be talks (TBC)
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th the first floor of The Art House will be filled with stalls offering information, plants, seeds and lots more besides! Plus of course the seed swap table, staffed by our helpful seedy volunteers who can offer advice.
Entry is free and the café will be open serving hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks and lunch between 12 & 4pm.
