  • Wanted please - a handful of wheat seeds

    Hi everyone

Im looking for a handful of wheat seeds to grow with 3 primary school garden groups. Im just wondering if anyone has any to spare? I'm happy to do a SAE or a swap if I have anything you would like?

Dont think most of them will have seen wheat growing and I saw it in a RHS kids garden book.

    many thanks guys
    xx

There's usually loads of it in bird/rabbit/guinea pig food. PM me if you want some...

Thanks guys, yes Ill Pm you TS thats great, Ill send you a Sae, just in case Im too late for the project that zaz signposted.

Zaz, what a great project, Ive signed us up and sent my details, but we will have to sow in pots!

Theres a guy on my lotty (The hovel) that grows wheat rye and oats, but hes never there when I go. Actually its only ever me on my own there, hence the state of the site I think! But its beautiful, the way it changes colour and the sound as it blows in the breeze. I hope it will add a little bit of magic to the school grounds, evenif its growing in an old laundry basket!

        Thanks again xx

I do by accident - from throwing the guinea pig food in the borders

Some grew from the compost I made with the chicken poo. Obviously the sweepings included some of their unpecked mixed corn!

Would you like me to pick out some wheat from the mixed corn the chickens have? I don't mind sorting it and sending you a handful. PM me with your address if it's any use.

Exactly my problem - find it springing up in my borders where I put hens' recycled poop!

For future ref., Wiggly Wigglers sell wheat seeds for sowing. Keep thinking about having a go myself, but never quite get round to it!
