  • Help With Seed Parcels Please.

    Hello, me again .

As some of you know I'm not averse to begging for seeds and this is no exception. I'm on the scrounge for seeds for the Chilli & Tomato parcels. Any help with these would be very much appreciated. There's a few different types of seeds in both parcels but not really enough to call a specialist parcel. After taking out all the gardeners delight, garden pearl & money maker seeds the tomato parcel looks rather sad, as does the chilli parcel. This is the reason why the parcels haven't been dispatched to the grapes that have asked for them.
So any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Please p.m me...ginger ninger. Thanks.

    Kind regards
    Janet (G.N). xx

Do you want to include self-saved, end of packets and out of date? I could probably find some of those.

I think I have a few golden sunrise.. the seeds look furry mind (thought it was mould) but they germinate fine.

I'll double check tonight then let you know!

GN - if both are bereft - is it really worth it this season? What about just chucking them in with the general parcels and collecting a load August/Sept time when people are saving and having a fresh specialist parcel in Jan?

It's a bit too late to be sowing now anyway.....

I agree with Zaz, if you can hang on and start collecting seeds in the autumn, I can almost certainly provide some self saved ones.

That's what I'm hoping to do Zaz...collect and send the parcels out in Jan/Feb next year. I have several tomato/chilli/pepper plants on the go that I'm going to save seeds from. There really wasn't enough to even pop in the general parcel. I've had quite a few p.m's offering seeds for the parcels from lovely grapes. I love the way people rally round on the vine...it's a very special place...but ya already know that.

Thanks you 2, I'd love to take you both up on your offers. Self saved seeds will be fine and as long as the seeds aren't too old I think they'll be ok as well.

Cool - I'll also make a parcel up later in the year to be added.

Hey Ginge! I'll see what I can do from my plants this year! I'll probably need a reminder tho!

I can let you have some Kumato seeds I saved last year, although I've no idea what shape they're in. And you will have to remind me or I'll forget.

Agree with the others, it's a bit late for this year (though I am on my 3rd (!) go at germinating a couple of tomatoes!!)
Will try to save this year - I should have some interesting ones (20+ varieties?)
                          cheers
                          S

PS is it OK to save seed from one of the earlier fruit? By the end of the season, last year, everything was so knitted and tied round each other, I could still save seeds but from "unknown variety"!! I'm a bit more organised earlier on...

I'm hoping to save seeds as well this year (provided we don't find ourselves moving at the wrong time), but I'll probably need a reminder too. (Bumping this thread ought to do it )
