  • Runner Bean 'Long As Your Arm'

Have just been given some seed of RB 'Long as your arm' by an old gentleman who has been saving his own seed for over 40 years! I've sown what I need for this year, and it's all germinated really quickly! If anyone would like some, please PM me and I'll get some in the post. Don't 'need' anything for swaps, but if you've got small amounts of anything interesting..........................................

Has he got particularly short arms? Interesting to see how long you manage to get them.

Hi Torreya, can you clear your inbox please.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Found this thread whilst searching for something else-I remember my father used to grow these beans
"long as your Arm" many years ago, I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to source some, as i would love to grow them again for old times sake?
I have just been given some seed (8) of bean-Bridgwater (Not Bridgewater as it is often wrongly called!) which i will be growing for seed next year, so may have to wait and hope someone has some in the seed swap?

Hi Torreya, thanks for your recent mail. I tried to reply but you personal mail box is full.

Sorry to hear you haven't had a great start to 2012. I do hope you are now on the mend.

I would be extremely grateful for any seeds you can spare. It seems that LAYA is not so easy to source through the usual means.

I really don't want you to incur any costs sending me these seeds. Would you prefer if I send you a stamped address envelope to cover p&p?

                Many thanks

                John

He doesn't appear to have been on the forum for a couple of years, according to his profile - so you could have a long wait

                      Hello beowulf and welcome.
Could I draw your attention to the Forum's Seed Swap guidelines, in particular

                      Rules for Seed/Plant Swapping:

All members requesting seeds/plants (for swap or SAE) should :
have been members of the Vine for at least a month AND posted more than 50 posts

The full guidance is at http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_76437.html

                      Thank you.

I'm back!! Had a rough couple of years, but hopefully fighting fit now!!

Don't think I've got any LAYA seeds surviving, but will check in the next few days :-)
